Alex lives on a legendary bridge in Paris. Hans is his “neighbor”. One day Michèle, a girl who is slowly losing her eyesight, arrives and turns both homeless men’s lives upside down. The shooting of Caraxʼs third feature film faced many difficulties, at one point even the threat of having to leave the movie unfinished. After numerous interruptions (e. g. they had to build a genuine replica of the bridge), the film was finally completed. Due to all the production hold-ups, the film highly exceeded its original budget. But the result is an impressive
love story of two “improbable” individuals in the incandescent performances by Denis Lavant and Juliette Binoche. (source: Cinematik)
