Film pripomína tieto pamätné dni prostredníctvom troch vzájomne prepojených línií: sú nimi búrlivý život Allena Ginsberga, ktorý sa snažil nájsť svoje skutočné umelecké vyjadrenie, spoločenské reakcie na „obscénny“ predmet procesu a halucinogénna animácia, ktorá evokuje prekvapujúcu originalitu legendárneho literárneho diela. It is 1957, San Francisco, and a trial for the poem Howl is under way. The film looks back on these memorable days through three interconnected elements: the wild life of Allen Ginsberg trying to find his true artistic expression, the social response to the “obscene” object of the process, and a hallucinogenic animation, which evokes a surprising originality of the legendary literary work. All three elements come together into a genre hybrid, which brilliantly captures a key moment – the birth of an alternative culture. In their debut picture, the authors faultlessly make use of their documentary roots and their expression is that of experienced storytellers. They are proving that a “true story” can be portrayed not just by clinging to the facts, but also through a film vision derived from those facts, a vision through which the spirit of an era can be captured.
