In all cases, the selection must be based on consultations conducted with well-founded and generally respected film experts - guarantors for the given cinematographic territory, and thus responsible for the objective assessment of the quality of the selected works and their suitability for inclusion in the final competition selection. The pre-selection of 10 competitive works must be concluded by January 30 of the given year by announcing the selected/non-selected titles to the competition.
Art. III
Basic principles of selection
The decisive criteria in the assessment and selection of works for the festival competition are clearly their film quality and artistic value. Gender or genre affiliation, chosen theme, creative method and specific technique are not taken into account at all in this context. The intention followed during the selection of competition titles is definitely not to achieve an overall balanced representation of feature, documentary, animated and experimental works, but to compile the best possible set of feature films representing the current film production of the cinemas of the individual countries mentioned above.
Art. IV
International jury
The jury of the festival is made up of three members and its composition is international - they are ideally representatives from outside the countries participating in the competition, in order to ensure the greatest possible objectivity in the selection process. Jury members are appointed by the program director of the festival for only one year of the competition, so the membership of a specific jury cannot be repeated more than once. A representative of a foreign film festival, film sales, filmmaker, film historian or theoretician, or a publicist with many years of experience can be appointed to the position of judge. professional interest significantly affects the field of cinematography. On the other hand, a person who participated in any way in the creation of one of the competition films may not be a member of the jury.
