Prvý slovenský celovečerný animovaný film. Priekopník slovenskej animácie Viktor Kubal si zvolil za námet dobrodružstvá zbojníka Juraja Jánošíka, hrdinu, ktorý nenávidí krivdu a bojuje proti sociálnemu útlaku. Film nesie typický Kubalov rukopis: ide o jednoduché kresby bez väčšieho množstva detailov, s čiernou kontúrou, nechýba humor, gagy a dokonca ani jemná satira. Príbeh rozpráva nielen o minulosti, ale alegoricky aj o súčasnosti, čo robí film príťažlivým a dodáva mu dušu, takže má divákom čo povedať aj štyri desaťročia po svojom vzniku. Film získal v roku 1977 Cenu Jiřího Trnku v súťaži animovaných filmov na 17. Filmovom festivale pre deti v Gottwaldove (Zlíne) a Osobitnú cenu festivalového výboru na 15. Festivale československého filmu v Bratislave. Úspechy slávil aj v medzinárodnom meradle (Lyon 1981, Bourg-en-Bresse 1982 a iné).
The first Slovak full-length animated film. The pioneer of Slovak animation Viktor Kubal chose to base the film on the adventures of the brigand by the name of Juraj Jánošík, a hero who hates injustice and fights against social oppression. The film carries Kubal’s typical style: simple drawings without too much detail; black contours; by no means a lack of humor; gags and even mild satire. The story speaks not only about the past, but about the present too, in an allegorical manner at least. This quality makes the film attractive and gives it a soul, so that it is still relevant four decades after its creation. The film won the Jiří Trnka Prize in the category of animated films at the 17th Film Festival for Children and Youth in Gottwaldov (Zlín) in 1977, and the Special Jury Prize at the 15th Czechoslovakian Film Festival in Bratislava. It reaped international success as well (Lyon 1981, Bourg-en-Bresse 1892 and others).
